The Downey Amateur Radio Club (DARC) is an ARRL Affiliated Club serving the City of Downey and surrounding communities through ham radio. DARC provides radio communications for civic events and special interest groups. DARC participates in contests, emergency preparedness drills (including field day) and offers support during disaster response situations. We also provide a community of “hams” with various levels of experience and expertise to assist with FCC licensing; radio programing; learning about worldwide radio communication; and problem solving skills through building and troubleshooting antennas and projects. We also help one another learn about the many possibilities of worldwide radio communication through digital communication, repeaters, linked systems via the internet, microwaves, moon bounce and satellites to name a few. Ham radio is your gateway to modern technology and advancement. With Ham radio anything is possible including sending signals through or to the International Space Station.
